I have been very fortunate to visit Japan several times, mainly to Hokkaido (北海道, Hokkaidō) which is the second largest, northernmost and least developed of Japan's four main islands. Its
weather is harsh in winter with lots of snowfall, below zero temperatures and frozen seas. I love Hokkaido for the opportunity it gives to photograph minimalist landscapes especially the beautiful trees. Some of these images I have converted to Black and White. I have been able to photograph the Red Crowned Cranes, amazing birds with big characters; and other wild life too.
