The Royal Photographic Society is one of the wold's oldest photographic societies with continuous existence since 1853. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were patrons, Queen Elizabeth II was a patron for many years before passing the baton to Catherine, Princess of Wales. It has over 11.000 photographers worldwide.
The Royal Photographic Society's Distinctions are one of the most widely recognised and respected photography awards throughout the world. The qualifications support people to undertake structured assessments through a tailored and friendly education programme, with a high standard of care and support for everyone. There are three levels: Licentiate, Associate and Fellowship which are held across different genres.
I am so very pleased and happy to receive my Fellowship Award in Landscape. For years I just thought this was a pipe dream, never believing that I would ever attain this standard. However, having a special friendship with a fellow photographer who encouraged me to fulfil my pipe dream; honing my style over a period of time and to find a suitable subject of these abandoned buildings in the USA made this happen.
